New incidents of rape reported in three counties

Women in Nimba, Bong, and Margibi Counties have reported a sharp increase in incidents of rape in their respective counties.

The Women told our reporter teenagers are the main victims of the crime, which often take place on farms, in the toilets, and on the girls’ way from school.

They said perpetrators of the crime usually threaten to kill the girls if they reported the incident.

The women said as a result of the threat, the girls keep the information to themselves until they fall serious ill.

The women also told our reporter they continue to suffer neglect from their husbands for unexplained reasons.

They alleged the men walk away leaving them with the children to cater for.

The women said as results of the neglect, most of their children are not in school because as single parent, they cannot afford to support them.
